Purnima, a kind village girl raised by her uncle, falls in love with Sonam, a boy without caste or background. Her uncle disapproves and arranges her marriage to Vinay, the son of a wealthy man. But her grandfather, Sant Bahadur, supports her love and makes a bold request: the groom must follow an old tradition choose his bride from a group of veiled girls without seeing her face.
